Music on the Common, Saturday 12th July 2025

As in past years, the VPA will have a plant sale at MOTC on 12th July. Members able to donate any surplus plants for sale are invited to bring them along on the day or, if you want to hand them over earlier, please contact any Committee Member. We look forward to seeing you there.

Talk, Volcanoes and Dragons, with John Tyler, Thursday 17th July 2025, 7:45pm, Church Centre, Featherbed Lane

Indonesia is a 3,000-mile chain of more than 13,000 volcanic islands strung between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. It is home to the world’s largest living lizard, the Komodo Dragon. A fearsome predator weighing over twenty stone, reaching nine feet in length and easily able to outrun and bring down a person, it lives on just a handful of small remote islands. In this talk, naturalist John Tyler will introduce us to the Dragon's home and to some of the other animals and plants with which it shares its kingdom .
